About Area Local
Area Local is a directory dedicated to local UK commerce. It exists to help neighbourhood shoppers discover independent restaurants, shops, services and tradespeople, and to help small business owners reach customers in their area. Listings are not intended for nationwide chains or non-local services.
Coins (in-app credits)
Coins are virtual credits used inside Area Local to unlock paid features such as extra photo slots beyond the free allowance, featured promotions and premium placements.
- Coins have no monetary value outside Area Local and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- All coin purchases are FINAL and NON-REFUNDABLE.
- Coins do not expire after purchase. Extra photo slots (photos 4–10) cost 6 coins each as a one-time payment and stay visible permanently.
- If a listing is removed for breaking these terms, any unused coins are forfeited without refund.
Payments
All payments on Area Local (including coin top-ups and any paid features) are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card data securely; Area Local never stores full payment card details. By making a payment you also accept Stripe's terms.
Listings and content
Business owners are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, photos, opening hours, contact details and any displayed badges such as Food Standards Agency ratings. Area Local may remove or hide listings that are misleading, illegal or off-topic from local UK commerce.
Liability
Area Local is a directory. Transactions, bookings and services happen directly between you and the business listed. We do our best to keep information accurate but cannot guarantee quality, availability or pricing of third-party businesses.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Area Local after changes means you accept the updated terms.
